Japanese Traditional ArtJapan referred to as the Land of the rising Sun and birth place of the paper art origami situated in East Asia is an island country with a rich history of art. Japan has been under the influence of many foreign powers and this clearly depicts on its varied and exotic art forms. Their long history beginning from 10th millennium BC to the modern day Japan is an accumulation of varied art forms but with an identity of its own. Japanese traditional art with its indigenous aesthetic value is diverse and covers the expressing Japanese paintings, the intricately designed Japanese pottery, their timeless sculptures and the Ikebana their traditional flower arrangement technique among the many art forms that makes Japan unique and traditionally rich. The most traditional form of Japanese art is its paintings. The beautiful murals, the ink paintings depicting all the landscapes, the court scenes and instances from day to day life are finished with perfect strokes. The various form of traditional art ware- Jomon ,Yayoi, Kafun, Asuka and Nara art, Heian art, Kamakura, Muromachi, Azuchi-Momoyama and Meji. A predominant Chinese and Buddhist influence is seen on most of the art forms. The best works of art in the traditional periods are the Japanese temples which have a very artistic approach towards them. The Japanese poetry which phrases the beautiful Japanese ideas, Japanese calligraphy with unique brush strokes, martial arts, Ukiyo-e the traditional Japanese woodblock printing, the traditional clothing including the kimono and yukata are worn even by the young people, the elaborate tea ceremonies, the detailed structures of the gardens and the art of Bonsai all make this island country traditionally rich. Japan has limitless traditional treasures to share with the world.
