Indian Classical MusicMusic is the heart of Indian glorious history. Since the time of the Vedas music has been important in defining Indian culture .Though the traditional music combines the ragas and talas the influence of other forms such as Persian has helped in the evolution of a new music which has been prevalent for centuries and is still evolving. With a melodious history of 2000 years the traditional music was sung in Sanskrit. The basic of traditional Indian performing arts including music is the Navras which portrays the nine different basic emotions. The music traditions were passed on from one generation to another generation is referred to as Gharanas. In the 13th century with the invasion of the Moguls in India the Indian music blended with the Persian and other culture giving way to the northern India where the music greats like Amir Khusro gave their thrilling voice to this form of music. The traditional Indian music maintained its roots and evolved into the Karnataka music. The traditional Indian music cannot be completed without the various musical instruments like the tabla, sitar, sarangi which are part of any musical recital. Besides the classical music the folk music also adds to the traditional music. The folk music is a part of all the festivities and public functions since ages. The various forms of folk music have a significant regional influence and are the soul of traditional music. Various dance forms like Bhangra, Garba, Lavani and Kolata have been practiced for hundreds of years and cannot be performed without Indian traditional music. Quawalli is another form of the influenced classical vocal music though it is based on the same principles. The Indian traditional music has preserved its integrity throughout but has still combine with other cultures to create magical notes.
