Halloween SuperstitionsHalloween is a holiday filled with excitement, parties and superstitions. Superstitions are connected with anything that is unnatural and especially with Halloween when the dead are believed to be free and people leave treats at doorstep for their dears and nears who are no more with them. Halloween is the perfect time to be associated with superstitions. These are centuries old and have made their way even into the modern world. Some of the most known Halloween superstitions are associated with black cats and broken mirrors. Black cats bring you bad luck and so does broken mirrors. Some others superstitions are associated with bats and candles and bells and many more spooky things. Some of the superstitions which are synonym to Halloween- *To keep the bad luck away one should knock at the wood. *According to an American myth if a child is born on this day he will have second sight and will be safe from evil spirits throughout his life. *People are discouraged to go on hunting sprees in England for the fear they may hurt a wandering spirit *Spotting a spider on Halloween signifies the presence of the spirit of loved one is keeping a watchful eye. *Celtic Custom is also a very old superstition, according to which if a circle is made from the ashes of the bonfire and stone is placed inside it by each family of the village then a moved or damaged stone signified the death of a member of that family in the following year. Still others superstitions revolve around ringing bells, hooting owls and flying bats. Though all may not believe in these they are still very much a part of this spooky holiday….
