Christmas in EnglandChristmas a festival celebrated by all with love and peace is celebrated differently in different areas of the world. The Christmas in England much resembles that of the celebrations in any other western country. The English people very fond of music enjoy this festival with music, decorations which mostly encircles the Christmas tree and other Christmas themes. The murmur plays still another custom in here, are plays which are enacted by actors on stage after wearing different masks, a century old custom is still practiced in the present times. The Santa here is referred to as the Father Christmas, who wears a long green or red robes and leaves gifts for people in the stockings hung on the tree. Christmas dating back its origin to AD 596 in England was believed to be brought here by St Augustine in order to bring Christianity to this part of the world. The day following the Christmas called the Boxing Day is so-called as boys go around for collecting money in clay boxes which are broken after getting filled with the money. The Christmas dinner eaten on December 25th, is eaten during midday. The origin of plum pudding eaten on the day before the celebration also owes its existence to this great land. The traditional dinner in England is unique and consists of turkey along with vegetables and sauces. The desert on the other hand is served in the form of fruit pudding with brandy sauce topping. Christmas whether celebrated on any lands is a magical season which is a merry making time bringing together families and friends to share the unique customs and traditions with love all the more.
